Privacy (app)

Background

We have developed a standalone iOS / macOS app called ExcellGrowth to help people improve personal performance through definition and tracking of goals and habits, journalling of progress, identification of improvement opportunities and navigating obstacles to growth.

A key principle is to enable app users to have privacy and control over the personal information they store in the app.

User-generated content is entered and stored in the app by its users, and this is stored in each user's own private iCloud database, which is hosted by Apple.

This data is handled by Apple and subject to the service and privacy agreements the app user has in place with Apple. This is a similar arrangement to the way Apple users store other private personal information in iCloud such as photos, notes, reminders and files. Users are in control of their personal data in the app, including deletion if they wish.

As this personal data is not shared with us, the wider privacy policy clauses applicable to the ExcellGrowth website do not apply to stand-alone use of the ExcellGrowth app.

Personal Data We Collect

We do not collect personal data from the ExcellGrowth app in stand-alone usage.

Non-personally identifiable data collection

In order for the Excellgrowth app to function, there are 2 pieces of anonymised user information collected by us (as they do not enable users to be personally identified, they are not technically Personal Data):

Anonymised device ID

This is required to enable Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications to all app users (that have agreed to accept notifications) that new content is available for download to the app. This content is one of the benefits of app subscription and includes articles on performance improvement, how-to guides and FAQs.  Anonymised device IDs are automatically collected and stored by Firebase Cloud Messaging when the app is launched by users.

Anonymised user ID

This is required in order to help app users with any billing enquiries and is displayed to each user in the Settings view in the app. The app uses RevenueCat to help manage customer subscriptions. As we don't have knowledge of who app users are, the only way to identify the transaction status and history of an app user is if the user lets us know what their anonymous user ID is when they contact us.

Anonymised user IDs are automatically collected and stored by RevenueCat when the app is launched by users.

Potential personal data sharing scenarios under user control

The ExcellGrowth app contains optional links to the ExcellGrowth website for user convenience e.g. to provide feedback on an article in the app, or to book a discussion to explore coaching.

By tapping on such a link, and visiting the ExcellGrowth website:

  • No data is automatically transferred or copied from the app to the website.

  • The website privacy policy applies to any subsequent sharing of personal data with the ExcellGrowth website by the user e.g. entering details into a form.

It is possible that ExcellGrowth app users may share views of their data with us and other parties through mechanisms such as screen sharing: in person or via online means (such as FaceTime video calls).

This is entirely at user discretion and within user control, and will not automatically happen unless the user explicitly initiates it.
